So much has happened since I was on here last!

Rita left me yesterday morning. I drove to KC to meet the transporter. She called me at 5 am to tell me she would be an hour late. I don't think her original flight worked out or something. Any way I was in KC at 9:30, so I walked Rita at a rest stop, filled the car up with gas for the return trip, and ate a late breakfast. We met the transporter at the airport at bit before 11. Rita and her things got situated and they were gone and I was on my nonstop trip back to school! I had told my principal I would be back around 12 or 12:30, now I would be lucky to be back by 1!

For the most part traffic was pretty good, just a few slow cars and semis. I made it back to Marysville just right at one o'clock! The 6th graders were down at the jr. high school for a year end activity.

Rita did not get into her new mom's arms until 9:30 that night! She then had a 2 hour drive home. Poor girl had a long long day!

Today was the last Friday of our school year! We had regular classes with assignments, can you believe it?! Next week there will be NOTHING regular about it. Picnic, Fun Day, year end awards.

Tomorrow my nephew is having his graduation party. He graduates on Sunday though. We have family coming in for that, so we will see some of my family for the first time since Christmas.

I hope Rita is getting along well in her new home!

Wow! what a day.
Lost my phone yesterday evening, right after texting the transporter (fell under the car seat and by time I got home had forgotten about it!) Of course she tried calling me twice last night. Texted her first thing this morning, but have not heard from her. She is a busy busy woman. I know she was even out of the country earlier this week.

Rita's poor mommy is wondering if she will ever make it to Canada!

After a trip to the car and then back in the house to look for the phone, I go back to the car and find it only to discover that I am just wearing ratty flip flops and needed to change into appropriate footwear for school! On the way to school I remembered I had forgotten to take my thyroid med, and of course my emergency purse supply was gone. I have gone all day without it!

Worked until a bit after 7 tonight for a parents come to see what we did night for the sixth grade. Now I need to get Rita ready incase tomorrow is still on.

Was so tired last night that I fell asleep very early. Nook beside me! lol Of course the dogs did not care as they were sleeping with me. The candy gang got to run free all night too! Not happy when they had to go back into their expen this morning though!

I need to get something to eat before starting on Rita, so I had better get going. It is already 7:35 and lots to do before I can get my bath and crawl into bed with jammies on.

School and then vets'

Rita went in for her final vaccination and health check up before leaving (probably Thursday?) She did not like the shots well at all. The car ride went well though. This is the first time she has gone by herself because Spike was with her for the other trips. Everything checks out well, so she is good to go! She weighed in at 4 pounds 4 oz today.

I stayed up too late last night reading on my Nook! Paying for it today. I will have to pace myself even though I have all of this reading material at my fingertips! Two books read last night. Both had about 350 Nook pages. Finally turned off the Nook about 1 am! (okay, so the power was starting to get low! lol)

Tomorrow night we have a sixth grade function to show off what they have been working on. I don't know if I will come home first or just stay in town until it is all over.
Dave has been really good with his new diet. He will probably lose a bunch of weight, because it seems to just fall off him when he doesn't even try that hard.

The supplement I have been giving to Monique, I have started to give to Rita (started about a week ago). She LOVES the wafers. If I decide to go with this supplement, it iwll be super easy because they think they are getting a treat!

I promised Rita's new mom that I would scan and send her the vet info, so I had better get moving!

Had a wonderful day with my kids! Just before we met up I received a phone call from the lady that now owns Mikey, the horse we sold last year. I was so happy to hear from her, as I was not happy when I found out that the lady we sold Mikey to was a horse trader. This lady truly loves Mikey and was wanting to know more about him. She had been told several things about him that were not true! Hmm, just like this same person had told me that Mikey would be a lesson/show horse for her barn. Why are people so dishonest? It did not get this person too far, as she is not giving lessons any longer. I am so glad to finally know about Mikey and will keep in contact with his owner. I am going to send her some of his things that I still have and the horse trader did not want. This owner did not even know that he was called Mikey. If my first horse was still alive, he would have been 38 today! Such fond memories of him. So glad that my parents did get me a horse, even if they made the mistake of buying a young unbroke horse. He was the first of many horses over the 36 years that I had horses. Mikey was the last one, even if technically he was Dana's horse. The dogs all missed us today. We had quite the reception tonight when we got home. The candy babies sure wanted out of the expen. They have not been in it for this long since they were much younger. Leta is still letting me know that she has not been happy cooped up today. She can run in and out now, but nope wants to be with me! Of course Murphy is under my chair. Jeans! Yeah! I get to wear jeans all this week!!! Super easy to decide what to wear to school this week. I got a Nook today. If any of you have one, I would love helpful hints and advice on using it. It is charging right now so I haven't even done anything yet, other than put the screen saver on it and put it in a cover. Can't wait to start looking for books and to discover what I can do with it! That will have to wait until tomorrow night!

Not much new today. We went to Manhattan for a bit today. Dave looked at cars incase we decide to replace the car instead of fixing it. I have been getting Rita's things together and paperwork finished up. I need to make myself a checklist as I am always afraid I will forget something, and I have before too. Did not get any of my "weekend" cleaning done and won't likely get it done tomorrow either. So, it will either wait until next weekend or I will do it during this week. Might do living room floor even yet tonight. I did write a few bills out in the car. So few to actually write checks for these days with on-line paying. Not sure what Dave would do if I wasn't here to pay them all. He never touches the computer. He tried several years ago, but could never remember what to do. He gave up! My body hurts today, I guess from yesterday. Not really sore muscles just tired and aches. Dave called someone to come and look at the barn. They came over just a few minutes ago and it is the parent of one of my students that has behavior issues. Not sure this is going to work out. Who knows where the picked up the bad ways. Dave and I WILL be talking when he gets inside. I just feel uneasy with that guy here, and I would be here alone with him during the days this summer. Even at school there was someone around and watching when I had conferences with this parent. Talked for a bit with Dana, but we will be able to talk more tomorrow, so we did not stay on the phone too long. Can't wait to see the kids! Early morning tomorrow or I had better have things lined up and ready to make the morning routine quicker. I usually have food in dishes on weekdays so I just have to set them down. I will have clothes set out too. No more slacks for school! I donated to Relay for Life so now I can wear jeans the last week !!!! Yeah!!!

Spent all day outside---- 5th and 6th grade track meet. Everything went pretty well. I helped with the high jump and will probably be sore tomorrow from bending over to pick up the pole. Sunblock was applied this morning, so no sunburn here!

Heaven Sent is now expecting two litters the first full week of June. So I will be busy after school is out!!!

The candy gang is doing super and love to play outside of their expen.

I think Rita will be leaving this coming week. The transporter tried to call, but the reception was bad and will call back later tonight. Talked to the vet about her exam and health certificate. Taking her on Tuesday if it is not needed before. I can take her tomorrow morning or Monday after school if needed sooner. They were pretty busy on Monday.

One full week and then just 3.5 days the next week (2.5 with kids)! Wow! Lots to do these last days. Grades, inventory, clean up

Will meet up with the kids Sunday in KC, Can't wait!!!

Still waiting to hear from the transporter for when Rita will leave me and fly to Canada. I need to call the vet for her final shot and a health paper. Just don't want it to be too old to do any good. Oh MY, the students are feeling the end of school! There must have been about 6 of the 21 students that did not have their spelling done today. Warned them that late work and talking would get them sitting by themselves next week when they can choose where to sit. Did not seem to matter to them though. I get the feeling that the rest of this week and all of next week are going to be awful!!! So wish we could just tell them that "Today is the last day. Have a good summer!" when they are not expecting it. I guess that would leave parents looking for daycare unexpectedly though. Insurance check came today for the house, garage and barn. It is under $8000 with depreciation and deductable. The car estimate from the body shop is almost $7000 too! We will see what the insurance will do with that. Wish this was all over and everthing was cleaned up and back to working order! Dave finally made a doctor appointment today. It has been decades (yes over 20 years!) since Dave has been to a doctor. He will ask Dad about things, but hasn't had any tests or formal physicals. His dad had heart attacks and Dave has high blood pressure. He NEEDS to stay on top of these things.

Did you notice my news on the puppy page? Rita has found a home. Just waiting on travel details from my transporter as to when she will leave me. Sad day. I really wasn't wanting to rehome her. I was hoping to show her this fall and then later have her join my mamas. Her new mom found her through another advertisement that brought her to my website where she saw Rita. I should know more tomorrow about her travel arrangements, but sometimes my transporter takes longer to get arrangements made. She is a busy woman! Other news is that Monique is expecting. She is due in early June. I haven't taken her into the vet yet, but she has the telltale belly bump. I found some chicken jerky tonight that is made in the USA. It is Bellyrub chicken strips. So far the cheapest place is California vet. I am also waiting to hear about one of my puppy families making chicken jerky this week. I still want to try it this summer (along with a whole list of things I want to get done! lol) Two Mondays and two Fridays left of school! The year has gone so quickly! I will miss this class. Talked to the man that sent me the samples of the dog supplement today. Asked several questions and will continue the trial period for a few more weeks. I told him how I appreciate the fact that the dogs seem to love it even though only Monique is getting it now. She thinks it is a treat and it must smell good because the others think so too! What a healthy way to give a treat! It could be broken into four pieces and given as 4 smaller treats too. Looked up my dog food on www.dogfoodadvisor.com. This site rates different dog foods. Nutrisource is rated 4 stars out of 5, so it is a pretty good food! Yeah! The one I had been thinking of changing to is also 4 stars. California Natural, which I was told is a good dog food is only rated 3 stars! Not so good!!! Glad I read labels and can choose a good food for my babies! Mira really needs to find a home soon. With her around I cannot safely take dogs outside the front unless I lock her up. She charges at them. She needs to be in a home that has no small dogs and has the time to house train her. She does love to be petted and get attention. So sad that she is not a good fit for here. My vet has told me that she is going to be hard to place because of her potty training issues. She will poo in a crate during the night and not let you know. If you know of an appropriate home, they can have her. I had her on clomicalm awhile back and it did seem to help some. She needs to learn manners and my space/your space concepts. Any dog whisperers want a challenge? I ordered more Spectrum 10 shampoo the other day along with some other things and the Spectrum 10 did not come in. Of course it was what I was needing the most when I placed the order. Tomorrow is a webinar at school. I have two different ones that I can choose from. Then this summer I will go for three days to Topeka for Mathmatice common core workshop. A teacher is never done with her education, even with a Master's degree! The insurance adjuster called me today too. I should have the paperwork in hand in a couple of days. A different person is going to handle the claim on the car. The body shop is picking up the car from the school tomorrow to get an estimate ready. Dave and I haven't decided if we are going to get the car fixed or trade it in along with the insurance money for a different vehicle. Wonder if we will ever get the barn back into one piece? Plus all of the debris hauled off. I found a piece of tin roof in the front pasture the other day when I was walking to the mailbox. I am sure pieces will show up for years to come! Need to get something done yet. Dave did the dishes already! Thanks sweetie!

Cooler today. Getting ready to take Rita and some others out to the front yard and take pictures. The candy gang is not ready yet since they just got their shots. Give them a few days for the vaccination to start working. The Candy gang do need their weekly bath! They get so dirty. It is funny to watch Maggie. She gets on top of the crate I brought up to transport the puppies to the vet. She does this to get away from the babies, but still be in on the action. She will jump off when it is safe (no babies around), but get right back up there when they come close. Only 3 Mondays and 2 Fridays left of school this year! Not sure what I am going to do first! We have a faculty meeting this Wednesday and will get all of our end of year paperwork. The new supplement I am trying out is really liked by the dogs. Monique eats it down quickly, but the others are wanting her "treat." This would be an easy way to make sure my gang has all of the nutrients they need and they will think they are getting a treat. Too early to tell if I see any difference in Monique's condition. So far though, it is easy to administer so that gets good marks. I hate to have to force a dog to take anything. I usually even hide medicine in some type of treat. Dogs under 5 pounds get just half, so the puppies and Murphy would not take as much as the rest of the herd. It is not super expensive either, so I think new parents might be willing to keep their babies on it after they leave here. I had thought about changing food. Not that I am unhappy with the Nutrisource, just always looking. Like most things, the price has gone up since I started feeding it years ago. Found a food that is very comparable (ingredients, etc), but about $5-8 a bag cheaper. This week the company that makes this food has recalled foods. Not in my area, but it is scary to think that could happen. I know Nutrisource has never had any recalls. They do in-house testing and quality control. So maybe I am better off spending $40 a month more and keeping with a food that has a good track record.

Little more sane day today than yesterday was. Puppies went to the vet for their first shot. The place was super busy. Only one vet and one tech there tonight. The vet did not weigh them, even though the other vet usually does. He did give them a complete physical. Need to watch Skittles's bite and testicles. Otherwise things were great! The puppies were quiet in the car (crated), but someone did get sick on the way home. This is their first outing. Dave is out grading roads tonight, so it is the dogs and I alone until dark. Glad the weather is good, even if it is warm. I just can't bring myself to turning the AC on even though it was in the 90's today. The dogs have access to plenty of water. I have the ceiling fans on so they can be in the kitchen under the fan if they wish. Tomorrow looks to be another hot day before it starts to cool off some. Dave had a quick bite before going out, but I need to get something yet. Not sure what. Cereal is out as we have no milk right now. Maybe a sandwich? Don't want to make much for just myself!

Is it Friday yet?! This morning was a terrible one! I went to school until 9 (a bit over an hour) then came home because the insurance guy was suppose to be coming. At 9:30 I called the insurance office to see where he was at. He called me at almost 10 to tell me that he had scheduled me for 11 and not 9. So, I went back to school for an hour and then came back home at 11. He looked at everything and we had a discussion about the house roof, as he saw nothing wrong with it. Back to school at noon. So much for teaching today! Thanks to one of our paras that can also sub for filling in while I was gone. Shaved Twix's and Snickers's ears tonight. Retaped too. Vet appointment is tomorrow. Booklets are ready! The mail today had my paperwork for my state license. Filled it out since I need to take one of the forms to the vet to fill out too. I will take it in with me tomorrow. That should give the vet plenty of time to fill it out for me. We just get to wait now to see what the insurance company will do. They don't get in too big of a hurry since it took them almost a week to get out here and now another week for them to go through their paperwork and get back with us. Good thing that the house is livable and we aren't using the barn right now! I did call an insurance agent that is a mother of former students. She represents Nationwide. I may be switching soon to Nationwide from Farm Bureau since FB likes to play these games. If they would just be here when they say and not try jerking us around. We pay for a service and when needed they all of a sudden are working against you instead of with you. Not happy at all tonight! This is the first time that we have had to file a claim with Farm Bureau and this is how they treat us! Poor customer service and very unprofessional!

Dave made a list, I printed off photos from Wal-Mart (did you see some of them in the drop down for the blog?). I think I am ready for the insurance guy tomorrow. I will go to work for almost an hour and then leave to meet up with him. I took a 1/4 day which is 2 hours, but I am hoping it won't take that long. Of course I will need to be gone 1/2 of math and most of reading though. Babies doing well. Twix now has both ears down. So strange for them to be up for weeks and then fall. It is just the tips. I will shave off the ear hair again and see if that is all it takes. Maybe she is teething? Rita has adjusted to life without Spike. She fits in well with the other girls. What am I going to do when the next show rolls around? It will be such a hard decision because I can't take them all! Bella and Sis did very well at the last show, so do I take them to try to increase their points? Rita and the L girls need to get started on their championships. I guess I have awhile to decide, plus if the candy gang doesn't find homes there won't be any shows. lol I am not worried because the littles are not ready to go yet. So different from when the Biewers were first here in the states. Plus A-Emmelie had such a good reputation that everyone wanted her puppies. Good thing since she had 8! Late next week or early the following week I will be going to the vets' for ultrasounds. This week is the babies' turn, so I need to get their health booklets started with names and dates.

Quick day today.
Spelling.. check
Math.. check
Reading..check
Science test..check, check (two classes of science)
Made plaster of paris masks..check

The 6th grade teachers and paras were able to wear jeans today since we were working with the plaster and gauze. Yep, I have white drips on all of my clothes and one shoe is almost covered! lol When these masks are dried the students will paint them to go with the culture they are creating in social studies. We were running short of the plaster/gauze stuff, so I called dad first and he said to try the hospital. A call to the hospital got us a small bag of the "older" material donated to the 6th grade! Yeah!!!!!

Heard from Spike's mom. He had a vet appointment today. He is sleeping all night long, after he gets settled down and then a potty trip outside before snuggling in bed with his mommy. She says he follows her all around. (sound familiar??)

Monique is on day two of her new supplement. She eats the waffer/tablet down readily. I think she thinks it is a snack.

The candy gang love playing outside of their expen. They cry when I put them back for bedtime. Maggie runs from them now, so I think she is done feeding them. Sent off their registration application today. Their registered names will be official soon! No, none of them have a candy in their "real" name, even though they are sweet enough to be sugar!

Need to be figuring out what to make for supper! Dave should be getting home in about a half hour.

Monday, another week begins

Today is the last of April. This month has flown by so quickly that April first seems like just the other day! I can't believe that we have less than a month of school left. This group of students and the staff I work with have made this year go very quickly too. I received a package of dog supplement to try today. I think I am going to try it with Monique. I will let you all know what I think, when and if I see any differences. Of course there is a breeders' program to have the breeders try to get all of their adoptees to use the product too. Some people even put supplements in their contract and won't guarantee the puppy unless a supplement is used. HMM, not sure I could go that far. It would have to really work wonders for me to consider that. I would hope that most of my new puppy parents would take suggestions on what to give their babies, but I know that some products are hard to get in certain areas. Also what works for one dog may not work for another dog, even if they are siblings. I have been trying to get the storm damage pictures loaded onto a drop down for the blog, but so far haven't had too much luck. I will continue tonight with trying to get them loaded. The candy gang go in to the vet on Friday for their first shot. They will be just short of 10 weeks old. Their second shot can come 3 weeks after this one or around the 25 of May. I like to watch them for about a week after a shot, so they will be ready to travel on June 1 if all goes well. What a great way to begin summer! They can be leaving about the time that puppies are due! Of course by now, you know there is no shortage of things to do around here anyway! LOL My outside windows were needing cleaning, but now since the storm they REALLY need cleaning. Grass and other debris is stuck to the west windows. I know I went through things last summer and purged boxes of stuff (including several bags of fabric), but it still seems we don't have any extra room! I need to go through and do it all again. Just how do we get so much stuff!?! The dogs' bakers' rack is still needing a good resorting to make it look neat again. I guess I get in too big of a hurry at times and don't get things back into their right container. I have thrown out some old doggie biscuits that were a bomb with the dogs. Not sure why I was holding onto them when the dogs did not like them. Did I tell you that my class and I are going to make a donation of things to a no kill dog rescue? We have been collecting newspapers, old towels and blankets. I even bought a bag of dogfood that they use to take to them. We will be making the trek shortly after school is out to deliver the things the kids have collected. I want to get some paper towels to take too. (I bought some, but Dave used them to block the gate into the living room to keep puppies in the kitchen. The other dogs were reaching through and tore the wrapper and some of the rolls of towels, so I will keep these and get the rescue a new package.) The insurance adjustor is suppose to be out on Thursday morning. Of course they go with the highest deductible we have which is on the house, but at least we only have to pay one deductible and not 4! Wonder if we will agree with what he values things at? Probably not! lol Need to keep moving to get things done around here. A new bag of adult food is needed out of the freezer and then everyone can have their supper tonight. I have been procrastinating hoping that Dave will get home to bring the bag of food up from the freezer. It really is not that heavy, as it is only 35 pounds. I use to unload horse feed all the time and those are 50 pound bags. I should be happy that I am able to do this! Hopefully storm damage pictures sometime tonight.

The limbs are stacked into three piles. The tin is piles in a heap. Other miscellaneous things back upright and waiting insurance adjuster. Did not get much done around the house other than storm clean up. TeTe did get her haircut today and doggie beds washed. No dogs got baths today.

Dereck and Kysha came up to visit and will head back tomorrow.
Spike's mom made it to Marysville and will be picking him up tomorrow morning.
The Dishnetwork person is coming tomorrow too. So Sunday looks to be a busy busy day. Even so, I am hoping to get four puppy baths done before 9 am tomorrow!

Need to get into bed for the night, so I can get up to give those baths before the day gets too busy!

Terrible storm

No power tonight. High straight winds took the roof off the barn, shingles off the garage, tree limbs down. Dave said the house has dents where debris hit it. Dogs and people all doing well Pictures later when I can use the computer.
